⚠️ Important: This Action is Permanent
Account deletion is irreversible. Once your account is deleted, you will permanently lose access to:
- All saved recipes (AI-generated and custom recipes)
- Your favorite recipes collection
- Recipe images and uploaded photos
- Your personalization settings (dietary restrictions, allergies, cuisine preferences)
- Recipe generation history
- Your profile information and preferences
This data cannot be recovered after deletion.
What Happens When You Delete Your Account?
When you request account deletion, here's what will happen:
- Immediate: Your account will be deactivated and you will no longer be able to log in
- Within 30 days: Most of your personal data will be permanently deleted from our systems:
- Profile information (name, email, avatar)
- All saved recipes and images
- User preferences and settings
- Recipe generation history
- Within 90 days: Backup copies will be permanently purged from our backup systems
- What we may retain: For legal and compliance purposes, we may retain:
- Transaction records (if you had a premium subscription) - up to 7 years as required by law
- Anonymized, aggregated analytics data that cannot identify you
- Records required for fraud prevention or legal compliance
Active Subscription?
If you have an active premium subscription:
- Cancel your subscription first: We recommend canceling your subscription before deleting your account
- Access the Stripe Customer Portal: You can manage your subscription through the in-app billing portal
- No refunds: Deleting your account does not automatically cancel your subscription or provide a refund for unused time
- We can help: If you have billing concerns, contact us at support@recipe-ai.io before deleting your account
✓ Easiest Option: Delete In-App
You can delete your account directly from the RecipeAI mobile app:
- Open the RecipeAI app on your device
- Go to Settings or Profile
- Scroll down to find "Delete Account" or "Account Management"
- Follow the prompts to confirm deletion
- Your account will be immediately deactivated
This is the fastest way to delete your account.
Request Deletion via Email
If you cannot access the app or prefer to email us, send your deletion request to:
Please include in your email:
- The email address associated with your RecipeAI account
- Subject line: "Account Deletion Request"
- Confirmation that you understand the deletion is permanent
- (Optional) Brief feedback on why you're leaving (helps us improve)
📋 Verification Required
To protect your account security, we may ask you to verify your identity before processing the deletion. This may include:
- Confirming your email address
- Answering account security questions
- Logging into your account one final time
Response Time: We will process your deletion request within 3-5 business days and send you a confirmation email.
